DescriptionThe beaded dickey, keptar, visible at the neck goes on first. Underneath the visible clothing on this mannequin are a plain cotton chemise, kmesha, a long-sleeved velvet jacket called mintan, and over that a very heavy red and black plaid wool jumper called fusta. The black velvet band sewn to the bottom of the skirt is the only part of the fusta that shows. Next comes a pleated, black, wool k'ndusha, sleeveless coat, with red trim on the bodice, a beaded belt, brno di mrzyali, an apron with metallic thread, poala, and another long-sleeved velvet jacket, libade. The hat is placed on the head, a red scarf, kavrak, rolled and tied in place, and the amuri, a beaded band, is tied on (Young Brides, Old Treasures: Macedonian Embroidered Dress, edited by Bobbie Sumberg, 2011).Parts of Ensemble: A.2010.77.29, Jacket: Mintan, c. 1930
