ProvenanceAcquired by vendor from Bert Phillips, founder of the Taos Art Colony. Phillips acquired the chest from the Ranchos de Taos Church in his early years in Taos.

DescriptionHand hewn and planed, mortise & tenon construction. Legs part of frame. Carved, gessoed and painted with swags and geometric forms in red, green and yellow.
