DescriptionThe body of this natural white cotton undervest is made of five pieces that are stitched in black. The collar and front openings are lined in commercial floral print. The front has pieces of red commercial cotton print, wine colored velvet, couched gold metallic braid, couched black silk braid. On each side of the opening are twenty-four hand-wrapped buttons---some in black silk, others metallic gold. At the end of each is a red bead. The elbow areas of the sleeves are of a blue and red stripe cotton from which a heavy burgundy swatch falls to the cuff. They are finished in couched gold, metallic. The sleeves close with hooks and eyes on both sides.Early-mid 20th century
