DescriptionThe body of the vest is made of eleven pieces of natural white wool felt hand-stitched together with a side pocket on proper right skirt seam. Brown wool braid is couched along the neck, front opening, arm openings and side seams. The bodice is richly decorated with couched metallic braids that form bands and rick-rack. Each center of a red wool appliqued triangle has the braid forming a rondel. The edges of the red wool are embroidered in red and blue, The vest's side vents have a dense brown wool fringe. Tufts of the same decorate the hem. An elaborate couched and embroidered area is done in metallic and wool threads in the black hem area.19th century
