DescriptionFaja (woven belt). Double face belt woven on backstrap loom by an inmate in the Canari prison in Ecuador. Part of traditional clothing worn by both Canari men and women, worn wrapped several times around the waist. The belt features blocks of pictorial scenes in black and white with green, blue, purple, and red thread designs along the selvedges. At the center is a message : "Recuerdo de la prision mia en la carcel de Canar. Hecha el 8 de Agosto de 1967 ".ca. 1680-1700
