DescriptionButton-hole stitch embroidery using cotton string on a cotton textile. The embroidery covers the surface of the foundation textile almost entirely, although some of the background color is visible between stitches, for example, on the ends of the piece where orange stripes in the textile were used to organize these areas of the embroidered design. String colors: natural white, red-orange, brown, purple (now faded to gray). Design consists of amorphous shapes w/ concentric outlines in contrasting colors. There is a concentration of brown shapes in the center of the piece One end has the name of the artist in a band above the edge and the other end has "sobremesa antigua" in the same position.
