DescriptionVertical board with five painted scenes of of harvesting and selling cochineal. The people depicted are wearing traditional Peruvian garments. The colors are in many shades of brown, with some gray, red, pink, mauve and black. On the back is a paper tag with information in Spanish and English which reads: "PLANKS OF SARHUA Sarhua is a town located in the department of Ayacucho. Their tradition is a gift table [plank] painted with the history of the family by the spiritual godfather, when someone builds a new house or forms a new family. Each member of the family must be reflected in everyday work. Making a horizontal, which carries an order of pictographic interpretation, from bottom to top.
