DescriptionWarm dark brown (smoked rattan) lidded basket of purse-like shape. The long, plaited cotton handle in red, green, black and white is tied off on one side. The handle slides through loops at the upper corners of the top section of the basket, as well as through holes in the wood base of the bottom half, holding both together. Horizontal and vertical herringbone weave sections create "rectangles" which enliven the lid. The top and bottom edges of the lid finished with plaiting. The bottom portion lashed to a bent switch at the the top edge.
