DescriptionLarge, medium dark brown basket with square wood base and round splint rim lashed to notched wood supports centered on each side. The basket is woven with alternating vertical and horizontal herringbone weave in horizontal bands at top and bottom, and vertical bands in center. It sits on a thick hardwood base which is strengthened by a notched crosspiece underneath. The rim is wrapped with bent splints just below the edge, and topped with a slender rattan or bamboo switch.
