DescriptionDark brown stained chip carved diamond shaped lidded box with hinge and catch (no longer functional). Bottom of box built out in four layers, each edge zigzag cut. Lid of nine (existing) layers, continues to rise from lower point of side, so the diamond rises continuously from the outer side edge. Tiny brass screws secure the top layers at each long side corner, as well as on a band around the bottom projection. Two hinges on one side. The inside bottom lined with finely striped green corduroy. A star painted on inside of lid. The box bottom has print from cigar box with CORTADO and image of tobacco plantation.
