DescriptionThe robe is cut and sewn in a kimono style with square wide sleeves. There is a vertical stripe design of cotton in light and dark blue that is woven into the attush (elm bark fiber) cloth on both the body and sleeves. the applique is concentrated around the neck and back region and on the sleeve hems and coat hem. There is an inner lining on the border, which according to Mr. Sasaki is more typically a Japanese convention and not an Ainu one. A light blue cotton thread is embroidered over the dark blue applique. Color: Natural tan (attush), light and dark blue (cotton) Technique: Plain weave, applique and moreu* embroidery
