DescriptionThe coat is cut in a kimono (Japanese) shape with rectangular sleeves. The cloth is woven with a dark blue vertical stripe pattern. The applique is concentrated on the neck, upper back, chest and hem region as well as on the sleeve borders. There are square patches of a white handspun cotton (?) woven through with a dark blue sashiko-like stitch in a grid pattern which occur on the front of the sleeves only. A lighter blue cotton embroidery thread is couched onto the dark blue applique in a curvilinear design (moreu). There are two cotton tie tabs that occur on the proper right side (on the lapel and under arm). Color: Natural tan, dark blue, light blue, and white. Technique: Plain weave, applique and embroidery
