DescriptionThis saddle bag is lined in an even weave wool in pattern of different sized red, yellow, brown, and gray stripes. The outer surfaces are of a red wool felt decorated in a geometric patterns consisting of tight herringbone stitches outlined in white chain stitch (all wool). The outer surface is further decorated with small chain stitched rosettes in navy, yellow and lavender. The lining, front and sides are joined by a whip stitch and this is then covered on the surface with a in yellow and blue at the top and opening and in brown and white at the lower end. Completing the saddle bad are three tassels of a braided, hand twisted yarn (brown) wrapped in different colors of wool thread (pink, gold, navy, white) . From these are more tassels of horse hair held together at upper end by strips of cotton. Artist Not Recorded
