DescriptionDark blue and brick red horizontally striped sarong woven with metal beads in geometric motifs. Sarong of two pieces sewn together at center with dark blue thread. Blue ground with three narrow bands of red at top and bottom, then a wider red band with seven stripes. Lighter, dashed red stripes in pairs run vertically across the horizontal stripes. Within each pair is a line of metal beaded motifs, including diamonds, crosses, four part florals, bird-like forms, hourglasses, x's and other motifs, as well as rows of small diamonds. One edge is thickly beaded, the other more sparsely, in rows of interlocking diamonds, triangles and zigzags. Most of these beads remain relatively light in color.Early to mid-20th century
