FA. 72.25-6b Thõb (1930s) This dress of white commercial cotton is from the village of Kafr Ana (the present Hemed), approximately five kilometers northeast of Beit Dajan. The embroidery is multicolored cotton couching, mainly in red and blue. The designs are filled in with satin stitch. The qabbeh is not a separate panel, but is executed directly on the dress. The embroidery of the qabbeh continues over the shoulders and across the back where the yoke would normally be. The embroidery on the skirt and sleeves is also done directly on the dress. Although there is some machine embroidery, most of it is by hand. The uncommon round neckline used here and in the village of Salama near Jaffa was an innovation. Length: 144 cm. Width: 75 cm.
