DescriptionStanding male figure with orange & red complexion wears a brown Franciscan habit with white corded belt and black sandals. Both arms are extended and he holds a black cross in his left hand. Hanging on his back with an arm around his shoulder is a green-scaled reptile devil with red horns and red wings, and it holds a brown bottle marked "XXX". Hanging on his left is a similar creature in yellow scales with black horns and wings and holding green paper money in its left hand. Towering over him is a skeleton with a raised arm holding a hatchet. Standing in front of him is a long-haired nude woman. She faces him with wide open arms. Another nude but orange-fleshed woman with red horns and purple wings is painted on the base, only her right arm is upraised. A double headed red scaled serpent is also painted on the base and only one head is upraised. The rest of the top level of the base is painted with several white, flat-bottomed clumps and a crescent yellow moon against a blue sky. The edge of this label of base is dark red, and the lower level of the base is a plain piece of wood painted black , Only the left leg of the standing lady is attached to the base, so she rotates, but is probably not supposed to.Signed and dated on back side of base. On bottom the base is the original label from Owings-Dewey gallery in Santa Fe. NM.Pedro Antonio Fresquis
