DescriptionJapanese (Kitchen) storage chest - of wood construction with metal (iron) hardware. Large keyaki(?) wood mizuya (kitchen cabinet) of narrow rectangular form. 1566 is the upper section (1567 is the lower) and has sliding door panels to the left and smaller pierced, carved door panels on the right, above a series of small drawers; black patinated iron handles of triple loop form; there is a black lacquered surface (later added); colors are natural wood, black; made of Paulownia wood, hand forged hardware.19th century AD
