DescriptionNicho consisting of a rectangular painted tin panel set within a repoussé tin frame. Frame is rectangular and decorated throughout with rows of dots. Upper edge is surmounted by a large semicircular crest with scalloped outer edge and concentric rows of dots and a rounded scalloped line. Curved, pendant-like tin elements extend from either side of the upper frame. Inner opening is surrounded by four curved or folded flaps over the edges of the painted panel. Painting depicts the Santo Niño de Atocha sitting in a green chair against a blue background. Santo Niño is wearing a brimmed hat and long robe in shades of yellow, pink, and white. The figure holds a staff in one hand and a basket in the other and is surrounded by red and green floral motifs.
