DescriptionTempera over gesso on hand adzed panel. Entire composition was taken from a Mexican engraving, possibly a wood block. Figure is in th cocked hat, cape, and generally 1840-50 style later revived by Kate Greenaway in her children's books. Lettered in block capitals: EL SANTO NINO (de) ATOCHA.
