Description"Symbolizing hope and rebirth, Ukrainian pysanky, or hand-painted eggs, are traditionally decorated with intricate floral and geometric motifs. “Inserting ammunition casings—a means of murder—into pysanky is my attempt at alchemy. The deadly material is purified, the earth is cleansed, and a sacred renaissance commences,” shares Polubotko.
