ProvenanceThe donor married a Syrian man and moved to Saudi Arabia in 1976, where she lived for 11 years. During her stay she amassed a large collection of Middle Eastern garments.
DescriptionThis green silk velvet robe has red striped silk gussets. The trim of red and black silk and diagonal red stripes has a red cotton border of triangle pieces forming a sawtooth pattern. Multicolored, embroidery enhances the hip area and hem slits. Red and black striped cotton and a red floral cotton serve as lining. There is yellow floral on navy ground cotton print that forms an interior pocket.
