ProvenanceAcquisition Proposal Form: Three dolls were originally given to Eric Blinman at the Office of Archaeological Studies who then referred the donor to MOIFA. I rejected one of the dolls due to condition issues, 11/2014
DescriptionAdult, female figure with infant in her arms and another strapped to her back. The face of the adult is made from coarse woven cotton, the infant on the front is fine open-weave cotton gauze, and the infant on the back is open weave burlap with gauze wrapped around its head. All three have facial features embroidered in a mixture of wool and cotton threads. The adult has a wig of what appears to be bundles of human hair woven in with wool yarn and a headband of braided wool fibers The arms of the adult are straw wrapped in wool threads.19th century
