This generic puppet portays an aged ascetic. This particular Pandhita Sambrahan figure shows the influence of Islam: the puppet wears a turban and robe, and carried prayer beads and a purse (to collect zakat, or "charity"). This wayang figure was used by Ki Purbo Asmoro in the lakon, "sinta Ilang" (Sinta Wanders Off) of the Ramayana.
