DescriptionCarved shell in semi-circular top is worked down to a thickness of .07 cm, entire panel worked to a surprisingly thin plank for such a large piece. The backgound is dark red with naturally painted trees at upper right and left. The figure does not occupy much of the panel, faces 3/4 to left of panel, wears round-brimmed hat, black cloak over dun-colored tunic showing bare knees with sores on them. Calf length black boots. He has a staff in right hand, and small white dog with black spots is visible at lower right of panel. Foreground seems to be of greenish color with red flowers. Shell is of red and mustard flutings. Moldings red. Only the side strips present, top and bottom lost.José Aragón
