DescriptionSmoothly hand planed pine panel, painted in oils directly on wood, without yeso ground. Drawing provincial to an extreme, but has attempted to catch the effect of baroque 18th century canvases, not only in the pose, costume, but also in the thick brushy texture of the pigment. (It is presumed that this is oil as it readily dissolves in acetone or commercial paint remover.) Dark brown background, hot orange and red costume. Pointed and plumed helmet usual to San Miguel, wings, right had holds sword with curled hilt, a second set of curled handles appears halfway up curved blade. Left hand holds no attribute, only an end of the red cloak. Figure stands on orange base, no sign of dragon.
