DescriptionAlthough the medium and the thick dark red color scheme of this panel resemble A5.1952.65, it is my feeling that the two are at the opposite ends of the santero shcool in time; that A5.1952.65 is of the pre-New Mexican santero period and falls into same category of oils painted on native pine after 18th century baroque canvasses as others of that seriess, (CW-R-16, CDC-3R-2015), while A5.1952.67 is of the post-Lamy school, with the timidity and inhibited line, unfamiliar materials and techniques of a foreign (French, German, etc.,) influence. Of course the fact that several of these are on sawmill boards supports this theory. See head of female saint in num's habit reproduced in Antiques magazine, August, 1943, for another example of this late type.Artist Not Recorded
