DescriptionThis cartridge-pleated black wool 'braced' dress has a stiffened hem covered in red and green wool. The back of the dress is made of black twill-woven pleated wool. The hem has one center-front pleat and 3 back inverted/sewn pleats. The bodice is embroidered in wool and cotton and has commercial silver braid. The front of bodice is edged in red wool. Straps/braces come from the back and button at front armhole edge. There is a round front clasp of silver filigree with 'gold' round dangles1830–50
