DescriptionMade by Margaretha Johannes (b. 1932)
Hand embroidered heart patterns adorn the front of this black silk brocade bodice. The stitches are herringbone, stem, & straight, in pink, purple, green, yellow, cream & tan. Herringbone stitches in white outline the bodice opening & arm holes, and form a pattern on the back. A black cotton peplum completes the piece. A black metal hook & eye closes the waist. 5 pairs of silver metal hearts are laced with a black & white tape. 3 black metal hooks at back peplum juncture with brocade. A natural muslin lines the entire bodice.
