ProvenanceAlexander Girard designed a triptych based on the Italian landscape for Jack Lenor Larsen Inc. in 1976. The original sketch for this triptych was in color marker and paint on cardboard that was 9 feet tall. These silkscreened fabric panels are fairly rare, and when found they are silkscreened on linen, not cotton. The Vitra Design Museum has a complete triptych on linen, and the Art Institute of Chicago has a single panel, Palazzo, given by Larsen himself. The third panel of the original triptych is titled Rampart, and is not one that was donated to the museum with the original gift.
DescriptionSilkscreened panel from the Palazzo Triptych; Stylized Duomo scenes; Part of two panels in collection; See A.2018.3.2
