DescriptionLong, very flared, wine-colored velvet vest heavily decorated in a gold metallic tape/ribbon with vining leaf pattern. This tape/ribbon is bordered with couched tan braid that has gold threads, or with a tan braid forming close zig zags. The lower front extending to back has an elaborate floral and fern-like pattern in gold couched braid, accented with a silver braid. The lining of the entire vest is of gold colored cotton with evenly spaced, fine, wine-colored stripes. On the inside, below waist level, are two white tape ties. One metal, hook-and-eye (in the same area) acts as closure.ca. 1875
