DescriptionEmbroidered on ecru linen, this embroidery has colors (now faded) of blue, green, yellow, black and pink (mostly now appearing as a pale blue, green and gold). The central square in cross stich has a floral border at bottom and sides. The embroiderer's infomation is in the upper part of the central square above a bowl of flowers. Surrounding this are geometric and stylized floral forms showing satin stich, bargello patterns and cross- stitch. The embroider's information reads:
"Este dechado lo hi
zo Maria de Las
Mercedes sola de edad de 7 años sien
do discipula de do
ña Maria de la Paz
Herrera año 1811."
(María de las Mercedes Solá, seven years old, student of Maria de la Paz Herrera made this embroidery in the year 1811)
