DescriptionA nearly square retablo with a flat half lunette on top painted with the words "SAN MIGUEL" in black on a white ground with blue and black wavy lines underneath. The lower portion is painted with an image of a winged, standing male figure in black boots, a short blue tunic, a red cape and a red, plumed cap iwth a crown-like front portion. Archangel Michael (San Miguel), stands between red, yellow and blue draperies, in front of a gray and black striped dragon. The dragon lies upside down on the ground, Michael's spear through it's open mouth, and a black rope or sword in his proper left hand which touches the dragon's head. On the back is written "San Miguel Archangel, May 8th, Sept. 29 Patron against Evil For all favors Traditional New Mexiccan Spanish Colonial Retablo; homemade gesso, pigments and pinon sap varnish Charlie M.
