DescriptionLarge leaf shaped leather shadow puppet with handle, cutouts and paintings depicting a scene from the Mt. Merapi volcanic eruption in Java, Indonesia. Vibrantly painted on both sides with gold leaf accents. Front shows billowing smoke, the mountain covered with glowing lava, a temple, dying oxen, human figures,a fanged, red, blue and gold dragon with Arabic text in gold leaf upon it's body. The artist's signature "29-03-2011, Ki Enthus, Indonesia". On the back is a depiction of smoke, flames. The buffalo horn handle is stiched on both sides with red thread and tapers from bottom to top. The handle consists of 3 segments on each side and top segment has a bend.
