DescriptionPandanus strip basket. Women do not make this type of pattern anymore. From south central Malakula Island. The basket is decorated with alternating dark and natural colored bands. Tassels or fringes hang off the bottom of the basket. Near the rim of the basket there are two lines of small, right angle triangles. Thin handles are at the top of the basket.
