DescriptionThis rectangular, wooden tortilla press, with wavy sides, consists of two pieces joined by two black, metal hinges (six screws each). The top of the piece has a painted image of a barefoot, aproned San Pascual holding a bowl filled with biscuits. To his right is a stand with two lit candles and center star. Above this is a four paneled window and below is a small dog. To his left is a second stand with a stemmed glass, grapes in a bowl (note vine) and a corked bottle. Above this hangs a ristra of chilies and one of garlic. In front of San Pacual, on the tile floor is an open beaked rooster. The back of the press shows a heart, and a vine coming from a stylized flower in the upper right hand corner.
