DescriptionEmbroidered hanging with 1/3 depicting a cemetery and graves: Rest in Peace; Rest I.P.; two men carrying a coffin, accompanied by woman and baby. Below is a woman in pink dress holding a child and weeping by a grave and toward center three women are holding candles while standing by a grave with inscription: "Children suffer when parents and bread winners die." In lower right corner is Mandela (Madikia) and his message "you must not be ashamed of speaking out telling the community! When you keep quiet you sign you own death warrant." In another section there is a portrait of Nikos Johnson who said "I want people to understand about AIDS: You can't get AIDS if you touch, hug, kiss, or hold hands with someone who is infected." Filling the remaining space are: two men; a bus; a house; stylized trees, flowers, and butterfly; and 3 red AIDS ribbons. The embroidery stitches are stem, chain, herringbone, and satin.
