DescriptionThe neck opening of this black wool overdress is embroidered in geometric patterns. Yellow is the predominant color but there is also dark green, black, red, and white as well as a rusty brown. The upper hem consists of a white center-front panel from which three silver ribbons alternate with three gold ribbons for the rest of the width. Above this is sewn small patterns in white, yellow, and black. The flower hem area consists of natural white cotton embroidered with evenly spaced leaves and flowers in pale orange, dark blue, yellow, brown and purple. The hem edge is satin stitched, forming scallops.c. 1920
