ProvenanceFrom the collection of Dr. Charles Capwell. Collected from the artists themselves in Naya Village, West Bengal. Dr. Capwell is a Professor Emeritus of Music and an Affiliate of the Anthropology Department of the University of IL at Champaign.
DescriptionBorder composed of yellow ground, pink flowers and green leaves. Panels are painted in a horizontal orientation. First panel, figure standing on a boat. Boat has the number 1509 on the side, background of water and some sort of structure. The figure (probably male) wearing a pink headpiece, a blue top and yellow bottoms. In later panel, figure with orange skin, ten arms and a yellow headpiece. The figure (probably female), in pink dress. Under figure, two animals, (probably a lion and bull). Painting is done on one long piece of fabric.
