DescriptionHeavily embellished apron made of cotton and silk. Composed of three panels. Two side panels are fully embroidered with florals, animal and human figures in bright colors. One in silk satin stitch and one of supplementary weft brocade, lined with blue commercial cloth. The central panel is in a supplmentry weft brocade with figures of animals and anthropomorphic figures. The top is edged in 'shiny cloth' indigo dyed cotton, that has been pounded and coated with egg whites or resin. The ties are handwoven. Commercial ribbon borders three sides. Inscription in Chinese characters at hem. Lined in commercial blue fabric. The ties appear to be machine -made.20th century
