DescriptionWall hanging quilt depicting daily life in the Village of Pecos, New Mexico. Depicts the roads, buildings and river in Pecos, including the monastery, the Kiva monument, lumbering, the chuch, a cornfield, a deer hunting scene, a spooky house, fishing scene, village scene and the penitentes and morada.

Over a four-month period, ten Pecos women who participated in the International Folk Art Foundation’s (IFAF) colcha workshops, designed and sewed this enormous art quilt that so accurately depicts the buildings, the activities, the roads and landscape of their town and its surroundings. Of note are the panels showing the National Historic Park, the morada and Via Crucis, the Benedictine Monastery, a hunter’s camp, adobe brick-making, and local lumbering practices (MManier).
