DescriptionTubular basketry fish trap with flaring entry end (a) with lid at holding end (b). Trap with opening at both entry and holding ends, the sides of small rattan rods bound together at ends, as well as at several points in between. An inner, conical rod form slants sharply toward the center and ends in sharp points facing the holding end. The entry opening is formed of a circular bent bamboo rod bound to the exterior rattan rods. Twisted handles are attached to the sides of the trap and an oval hole is cut through one side near the edge. The holding end is formed of wide splints. The flat lid (b) which covers the holding end, is of similar construction with splint rim and rattan rod top secured by weaving around the edges.On View
