DescriptionFA. 72.25 49 'Aqd Wazari (ca. 1910) This necklace is named after the six-piaster silver coins (wazariyyat) which are its principal decoration. It consists of flat figure-eight pieces of silver linked end to end and backed with a cloth band. The coins include a number of smaller ten-para coins (one quarter of a piaster). A strip of silver links edged with tubular glass beads and ten-para coins hangs from the middle as a central pendant. The wazari coins are all dated either A.H. 1223 (A.D. 1808-9) or 1277 (1860-61); the paras, 1327 (1909-10). Length: 33 cm. Choker. North Palestine (?) Worn in north part of Ghar. Black neck band fastened with snap, trimmed with silver chain and "wazary" coins and smaller "Barat" coins (Turkish) with pink glass beads above each of them.
