Wayang Kuilt: Indonesian Shadow Puppets

DescriptionShadow puppet / accessory. Large horizontal battle scene with troops carrying star-patterned shields in front, mounted cavalry with horses and behind. Standard is a red and white flag. Black and red spears and a wheeled cannon project in front.

Ampyak are army figures; they portray a whole army. The Ampyak Jawa figure represents the Javanese army, or the human or protagonist army. The Ampyak are used in every performance- for battle scenes, or for scenes showing the troops departure.
