DescriptionBox and handle cut from single piece of very hard light colored wood, probably not of local manufacture, but work is fairly crude. Front is made of 4 thin slabs of pine, may have been replacementrs, where they meet around the soundbox the aperture is straight across at top and roughly circular in the two lower pieces. Four wooden keys remain. There are six holes for keys of this size, and five more small ones such as those in a cribbage board. On the fret are seven notches, although there may have been more since broken off. As it is it could only accommodate seven strngs. The lower end has seven small holes for strings, one is now occupied by a thong to tie the bridge on, this piece is also pegged on with six dowels and seems to havae been cemented on with pitch also. One gut string remains. A small hole seems to havea been bored into the back just above the sound opening. No data.Artist unrecorded
