DescriptionHead of carved wood under gesso, moldings also applied wood strips. Frame has red and black stripes and leafy meanders, red, bevelled corners, and leaves painted above head inside are also red and black. Head has usual stylized "lappets" of hair,, open mouth with indications of teeth, finely drawn lashes, bloody trickles, a detailed bruise on left cheek, and general experssion of physical agony and illness. A painted shower of blood drops is below and there appear to be traces of lettering, now gone.
